How to set it up

  1. 1

    Connect LinkedIn

Connect LinkedIn in ShortSync and choose who posts: your personal profile or a Company Page you admin. Each ShortSync workspace can point at a different page, so agencies can post for every client.

  2. 2

    Paste your YouTube channel

On ShortSync's Upload page, open Repurpose and create a workflow. Under Post from, pick YouTube or podcast and paste your channel link (youtube.com/@name) or a playlist link. ShortSync shows the latest videos so you can check it found the right channel. No YouTube sign-in needed.

  3. 3

Pick LinkedIn and how to post

Under Post to, select your LinkedIn account (and any others you want). Choose Publish right away, or Save drafts to check each post first.

  4. 4

    Let it run

About 15 minutes after a new video shows up in the channel's feed, ShortSync posts it to LinkedIn. Videos from before you created the workflow aren't posted as new.

What the post looks like on LinkedIn

  • An image post on your profile or Company Page, with the title and link as its text.
  • The link is clickable in the post text.

Other ways to do it

All of these work. ShortSync suits you if you'd rather not build or host anything, or want the same post on several platforms.

Paste the link into a LinkedIn post

LinkedIn shows a preview card for YouTube links. It works, but it's one more thing to do after every upload, for every page you post to.

Zapier, Make, Pabbly or IFTTT

Each has a template that watches a feed and posts to the platform. Flexible if you already pay for one, but you build and maintain the workflow and its message yourself, and each extra platform is another step.

Good to know

  • ShortSync never downloads YouTube videos: each post links to the video on YouTube.
  • YouTube's feed lists a channel's latest 15 videos, so an old posts workflow can share up to those 15.
  • Any public channel or playlist works, including one you run for a client.
  • LinkedIn post text can be up to 3,000 characters, so a title and link always fit.

Frequently asked questions

A post with a strong first line and the link does better than a bare link. With Save drafts, ShortSync prepares the post with the thumbnail, title and link, and you add the first line before publishing.
Yes. When you connect LinkedIn, pick the Company Page you admin. Each ShortSync workspace can use a different page.
No. Each post is the thumbnail, title and link, so people watch on YouTube and your views count there. To post the video natively to TikTok, Reels and Shorts, upload the file to ShortSync and schedule it to every platform at once.
ShortSync checks the feed about every 15 minutes, and YouTube's feed can take a few minutes to list a new upload, so expect the post within about half an hour.
Repurposing workflows are on every ShortSync plan, Free included. Each published post counts as one upload on your plan, like posting it yourself; drafts don't count. If you run out of uploads, new posts wait as drafts instead.
