Slack+ShortSync
Slack integration

The Slack app that tells you when your posts go out

ShortSync sends a message to the Slack channel you pick when a post is published, fails or gets scheduled, so the whole team sees what went out, and a failed post never goes unnoticed. Discord and Microsoft Teams work the same way.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add a channel

In ShortSync, open Settings > Integrations, find Slack, Discord and Teams and click Add channel. Pick Slack and tick the updates you want: published, failed, scheduled, or any mix.

  2. 2

    Click Add to Slack

Slack's own screen opens. Choose the workspace and the channel, then click Allow. You land back in ShortSync with the channel added.

  3. 3

    Send a test message

Use Send test message in the channel's menu to see it arrive. From then on, every post in that ShortSync workspace sends its updates there.

What the messages say

Published

The platform, the start of the caption and a link to the live post, so anyone can open it and reply to the first comments.

Failed

The platform, the caption and why it failed, sent after ShortSync's own retries. Fix the connection or the file and retry from the library.

Scheduled

The platform and when the post goes out, shown in each reader's own time zone. Handy when several people schedule for the same brand.

Your choice, per channel

Send only failures to an alerts channel and everything to the marketing channel. Edit the updates, pause a channel or see its last 25 messages any time.

Hootsuite's and Buffer's Slack integrations, compared

Both are good schedulers, but neither lists automatic published or failed alerts for Slack. Hootsuite's Slack app is described as a way to share posts into Slack with a comment; Buffer's Slack messages come from a Zapier or IFTTT automation.

Frequently asked questions

Only the incoming webhook for the one channel you pick, which lets it post messages there. It can't read messages, see other channels or act as you. Removing the channel in ShortSync, or the app in Slack, stops it.
Yes. Add as many channels as you need, up to 10 per ShortSync workspace, each with its own updates. A channel added to one workspace only gets that workspace's posts, so each client can have their own.
Yes. Discord has the same one-click Add to Discord. For Teams, create a Workflows webhook in the channel (Post to a channel when a webhook request is received) and paste its link; Microsoft only offers sign-in buttons to apps from its own store.
Any plan, Free included. Owners, admins and members of a workspace can add channels; clients can't.
When Slack reports that the webhook is gone (the app was removed or the channel archived), ShortSync turns that channel off and shows why. Add it again to start over.
Yes. ShortSync's webhooks send the same events as signed JSON to Zapier, Make, n8n or your own server, to update a spreadsheet, a CRM or a client report when a post goes live.
