Frame.io

Bring approved cuts and images from Frame.io into ShortSync and post them everywhere at once. Upload from Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve to Frame.io as usual, then pick the files in ShortSync instead of downloading and re-uploading each one.

Connect Frame.io

  1. In ShortSync, go to Settings > Integrations and click the Frame.io tile under Add more. You can also get there from the Upload page: Import, then Add integration.
  2. Sign in with the Adobe ID you use for Frame.io and allow access.

This works with the current Frame.io, where you sign in with an Adobe ID. Older Frame.io accounts that still use a separate Frame.io login need to switch to Adobe sign-in first (Frame.io account settings). The connection belongs to you, not the workspace, so teammates don't see or use it. To stop using it, open the ⋮ menu next to Frame.io and choose Disconnect.

Importing files

  1. On the Upload page, click Import under the drop zone and choose Frame.io (if you don't see it, look under More sources). Once you have media in the flow, the same option is in the + tile at the end of the list.
  2. Open a project, then its folders. Videos (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI) and images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC) show with a preview, newest first. For a version stack you get the latest version. PDF, PowerPoint and Word files can be picked on their own to post as a LinkedIn document, which needs LinkedIn connected in the workspace.
  3. Select the files you want and click Import.

ShortSync downloads the original file you uploaded to Frame.io, not a compressed preview. Each file arrives with its name, without the extension, as the caption. Edit it like any caption, or use custom captions for a different text per platform. Images can go out as single posts or together as a carousel. From there the files work like any other upload: schedule them, publish them now, or post them as a bulk upload.

From an AI assistant or the API

With ShortSync connected to Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client, ask something like "Import the final cuts from my Frame.io project Spring launch and schedule them on TikTok and Reels". The assistant uses list_import_items and import_items with source frameio. The REST API has the same steps under Imports. Both use the Frame.io account connected in Settings.

Limits

  • Up to 20 files per import; videos up to 2 GB, images up to 20 MB.
  • Files count toward your uploads and workspace storage like any other upload.

FAQ

Why does it say my Adobe ID has no Frame.io account?

An Adobe ID doesn't come with Frame.io automatically. Sign in at frame.io with the same Adobe ID to create your account, then connect again. If you have several Adobe IDs, use the one your Frame.io projects are under.

Why can't I import a file?

Frame.io only hands out the original when you're allowed to download it. If a project has downloads turned off for you, or the file is still uploading, ShortSync says so. Ask the project owner to allow downloads, or wait for the upload to finish.

Does ShortSync change anything in Frame.io?

No. It only reads the projects and folders you open and downloads the files you pick. Comments, versions and approvals stay as they are.

Why do I need to reconnect Frame.io?

Adobe sign-ins expire after a while or when you remove ShortSync's access. Click Reconnect in Settings > Integrations.

Other ways to bring media in: Google Drive, Dropbox and Descript.
